Mission Statement: To provide community involvement in organizing and establishing community based sentencing alternatives for individuals when arrested, imprisoned or released from incarceration in an effort to gain and retain self-respecting and crime free lifestyles.

Community Service Program: Convicted offenders are placed in unpaid positions to serve a specific number of hours in the community.

Work Program: Offenders are placed with an agency to "work off" their assessed fees. Although monetary value never changes hands, offenders will receive credit at a set rate per hour for every hour worked.

Referrals: Juveniles 14 years of age or older and the adult offender 18 years of age or older. Juveniles under the age of 14 years will be considered under special circumstances. The requirements for offenders to participate in this program is that the individual be under a court order or voluntarily enter into an agreement with the prosecuting attorney or juvenile court. Transfers from other community service programs will be allowed only by approval from the acting coordinator.

Referral Procedures: Referral sources may include municipal and district courts, juvenile court, juvenile services, prosecuting attorneys office, and the district parole and probation office. The offender is required to contact the acting coordinator within 48 hours following a court appearance and should be specifically directed by the court to make such contact. The offender is required to submit a program fee before being allowed to perform community service.

Termination: If the referred offender violates the community service contract, the acting coordinator will determine the necessary action needed to bring the offender into compliance. If all alternative compliance measures are exhausted with unsuccessful results, the community service contract with the offender will be terminated.
