The Greater Grand Forks Community Service & Restitution Program was formed to establish an acceptable program where the citizens of the Greater Grand Forks area will benefit while the offender works to pay his/her debt to the community. The program was started in August of 1993 by a five-member board of directors and incorporated as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) agency. Referrals are received from Grand Forks District and Municipal Court and from the ND Department of Corrections Probation Officers. Additional referrals may come from other community service programs throughout ND or corrections agencies in other states. Each person is evaluated through a risk assessment guide to determine safe placement in the community. We have 125 non-profit or government agencies in a five county area, which accept and supervise our clients while they work their community service hours and in turn they receive free labor.
